South Africa's first
conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems was eld in Pretoria
in May 2000. For the first time, South African IT professionals,
business people, students and academics were introduced to the
important field of Human-Computer Interaction. This was also be a
unique opportunity to meet some of the world's foremost experts in
the field.
The emphasis in the
conference was on the unique needs of software users in a country
characterised by diversity of culture, language, education, economic
means and computer experience. In order to accommodate as many
interests as possible, the conference included a range of popular
themes that offered something for academics, students, business
people, IT professionals, media developers, usability practitioners
and end users.
